  24.      The ^6 burden of the word of Jehovah upon the land of Hadrach, and
  25. Damascus shall be its resting-place (for ^1 the eye of man and of all the
  26. tribes of Israel is toward Jehovah); and Hamath, also, which bordereth
  27. thereon; Tyre and Sidon, ^2 because they are very wise.  And Tyre did build
  28. herself a stronghold, and heaped up silver as the dust, and fine gold as the
  29. mire of the streets.  Behold, the Lord will dispossess her, and he will smite
  30. ^3 her power in the sea; and she shall be devoured with fire.  Ashkelon shall
  31. see it, and fear; Gaza also, and shall be sore pained; and Ekron, for her
  32. expectation shall be put to shame; and the king shall perish from Gaza, and
  33. Ashkelon shall not be inhabited.  And ^4 a bastard shall ^5 dwell in Ashdod,
  34. and I will cut off the pride of the Philistines.  And I will take away his
  35. blood out of his mouth, and his abominations from between his teeth; and he
  36. also shall be a remnant for our God; and he shall be as a chieftain in Judah,
  37. and Ekron as a Jebusite.

  72.      As for thee also, because of the blood of thy covenant I have set free
  73. thy prisoners from the pit wherein is no water. ^10 Turn you to the
  74. stronghold, ye prisoners of hope: even to-day do I declare that I will render
  75. double unto thee.  For I have bent Judah for me, I have filled the bow with
  76. Ephraim; and I will stir up thy sons, O Zion, against thy sons, O ^11 Greece,
  77. and will make thee as the sword of a mighty man.  And Jehovah shall be seen
  78. over them; and his arrow shall go forth as the lightning; and the Lord Jehovah
  79. will blow the trumpet, and will go with whirlwinds of the south. Jehovah of
  80. hosts will defend them; and they shall devour, and shall tread down the
  81. sling-stones; and they shall drink, and make a noise as through wine; and they
  82. shall be filled like bowls, like the corners of the altar. And Jehovah their
  83. God will save them in that day as the flock of his people; for they shall be
  84. as the stones of a crown, ^12 lifted on high over his land. For how great is
  85. ^13 his ^14 goodness, and how great is ^13 his beauty! grain shall make the
  86. young men flourish, and new wine the virgins.
